From Plain to Plush: Mary Kay NouriShine Plus™ Lip Gloss

Happy February! It's the month of love! Whether you're spending it with a special someone or a few girlfriends, the important thing is to have fun, and look good while doing it, of course! Here's something new to wear on those nights (or days) out from Mary Kay: the NouriShine Plus™Lip Gloss.

The ladies of Mary Kay sent this over the holidays and I've been using it on and off since then. Truth be told, I'm not a fan of lipglosses, but sometimes I find that lipsticks can be drying or don't wear very well after long periods of time, which means I have to take the whole thing off and apply it all over again. These came in at a good time since I was looking to shake up my routine a bit.

Mary Kay NouriShine Plus™ Lip Gloss MK's introduction to the world of multitasking products, a.k.a. makeup with skincare benefits. It promises instant moisture and protection for the lips through ingredients that are good for your lips, in addition to the usual glossy shine from a lipgloss product. I actually like how it's shiny but not too shiny, plus it's not as sticky as other glosses I've tried in the past. My lips look and feel moisturized right after application, and the feeling lasts for quite awhile. And yes--it's not drying! I've tried using this without lip balm (!!) and it wore comfortably during the day. A light vanilla scent accompanies these, but it's not discernible once you apply them.

MK made sure that the range carried different shades and finishes as well. I received Fancy Nancy, a light pink with shimmer, and Mango Tango, an orange-red. The glosses are fairly pigmented and I'm happy with how the color fades over time. Layering is also easy with these shades. Fancy Nancy in particular is nice over my work-appropriate lipcolors to give them a little pop, or even alone for a subtle sparkle. Mango Tango is a darker version of 2012's color of the year (tangerine), and I imagine this shade to appeal to a lot of ladies who would prefer a more youthful take, shade- and texture-wise, to a full-on red.

My only gripes: It would be good to keep a dedicated makeup remover for the shimmery finishes, but I believe it's no more effort than the usual glitter finish. The glitter WILL spread around outside your lips if you just use makeup removing wipes or something with similar cleaning power. Also, while I like applying the gloss using the provided wand as well since it's easy and comfortable to use, it does take a smidgen more time than if I had applied a lipstick since I have to be more precise. That's a personal thing, though!

If you love your gloss, this is something new and nice to try. Ladies with flaky, chapped lips, I recommend these! There will be seven shades of the Mary Kay NouriShine Plus™ Lip Gloss coming out this February 16 at Php700. Get them from your nearest Mary Kay Beauty Consultant soon!
