Review: Celeteque Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15 and its twin

In my last contest I noticed that many readers, more often than not, use drugstore products. I can't fault you girls and guys on that one, since they're locally and widely available, plus there's more than enough variety to choose from. Today's review is of a product that is not only easy to find, but is an awesome find as well: Celeteque facial moisturizer with SPF 15.

Celeteque facial moisturizer with SPF 15 combines optimum hydration and protection to help prevent skin from dryness and damage from daily sun exposure.
The Science of Celeteque Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15:
• Has double sunscreen protection against UVA and UVB rays
• Contains effective moisturizers to help keep skin hydrated, smooth and supple

The budget-conscious in us will first appreciate that this 50ml bottle is only Php150. I'd say this would last you 2-3 months depending on how much you use, but even if you used it all up in less than that, it won't cost an arm and a leg to repurchase. The bottle is also small enough to keep in your bag for reapplication.

Texture-wise, the moisturizer is very light on the skin and very easy to spread. It provides a smooth overall finish due to dimethicone, which some people may sadly be allergic to. My dry skin could use a touch more moisturizing power, but true to its word the product prevents further dryness and keeps my skin hydrated and supple enough for errands and the like. There is a light scent, but rest assured that the product is fragrance-free, meaning there is no ingredient meant purely to add scent.

The sunscreen ingredients that make up the SPF 15 factor for this product are octinoxate (also known as octyl methoxycinnamate) and titanium dioxide. Both provide optimum UVB protection but only moderate UVA protection, according to this chart I bookmarked from Gio of beautifulwithbrains. Octinoxate is also classified as a chemical sunscreen, which has to be absorbed by the skin in order to work. While generally safe, in some rare cases skin reactions have occurred. If you have sensitive skin, be sure to do a patch test of this product prior to daily use.

All in all, Celeteque SPF 15 is a good basic moisturizer, and the added SPF is a bonus. I'm happy to use this indoors or out. It's readily available in department stores, supermarkets and drugstores, and it's cheap! (That needed an exclamation point.) No reason not to try it out, whether you're oily, combi, or dry-skinned.

The blue packaging is still available in certain places, but if you can't find it, it's probably because the folks at Celeteque gave it a makeover:

The facial moisturizer with SPF 15 has now been included in Celeteque DermoScience's Sun Care line! I'm glad that Celeteque retained their entire line of products despite the revamp, and introduced new ones as well (though I've yet to try those).

Ingredients comparison
So yes, whether you're looking for the blue or the yellow packaging, it's all in one.

Have you tried this moisturizer? What do you think of it?
