Review: Pure Beauty Cleansing Liquid

One of my favorite brands to check out at Watsons stores is Pure Beauty, which is exclusively available there. I was able to try their Super Brightening toner awhile back, and I'm actually wondering now why I didn't repurchase! Every now and then Watsons holds promos for the brand, and I jumped at the chance to try out the Pure Beauty Cleansing Liquid when it was its turn to have a price break. Originally available for Php289, I was able to purchase it for Php239.

Pure Beauty also has a cleansing water and cleansing oil. Both are straightforward in terms of usage, so I was curious about the middle ground that the cleansing liquid provided. The product claims to gently cleanse the skin, remove make-up, and leave the skin feeling moisturized all at the same time. Given that plus how it looked in the bottle, it actually reminded me of Cetaphil!

The product is housed in a pink transparent pump bottle, so you can see how much product you have left. It has a no-spill clip like my Muji cleansing oil, which is always useful especially if you move the bottle around a lot like I do. The bottle holds 190ml of product and lasts for a few good months. I use 2-3 pumps' worth for my face, and while you can use it on damp or dry skin, I prefer the latter because it just feels like it works better. This is because the product itself is quite slippery already, so putting it on top of already damp skin kind of dilutes the product even more.

However... this particular cleansing liquid has a scent. I've read other reviews describing it as a light, pleasant floral fragrance, but to me it smells... waxy. Even if I didn't already know that paraffinum liquidum, its main ingredient, is a fancy name for mineral oil, I would've already known that given by how it smells. It goes away once the product is washed off, but it really overwhelms me while it's there. It's a real shame because in terms of cleansing power, this is really good for everyday make-up. It won't remove waterproof mascara and long-wearing make-up without some serious rubbing, so I would recommend using a separate make-up remover before this. But if your daily makeup consists of foundation/BB cream, powder, eyebrow make-up, blush and lipstick or gloss, this is a good alternative to harsher cleansers. It also did not leave a tight feeling after washing.

Would I recommend it? Yes, I would, but I highly suggest that you sniff before you purchase to see if you're okay with the scent. I might be in the minority here when I say I prefer something unscented to this, but fragrance is a personal preference anyway! I can't fault its cleansing powers, after all.

Have you tried Pure Beauty products? I'm also trying out their treatment conditioner and that one is pretty awesome. Share your thoughts in the comments!

P.S. I'm really happy about how this Holy Week break is giving me a chance to get my blogging mojo back, haha. Have a blessed Holy Week, everyone!

    1. I heard good stuff about the cleansing oil but I still have two bottles (Muji and Face Shop) to finish, so I didn't get it na lang :)) tsaka better to remove mascara separately kasi you still end up rubbing your eye area a lot with cleansing oil :(

  7. Hi Ate Kari! I've been thinking of buying this but couldn't decide which one, kung yung oil ba, water, or eto.

Anyway, I use the treatment as conditioner instead of a weekly thing, but I think Dove works better than it for me and my thick unruly hair :))

    Hi Kari,

I purchased the cleansing water a while back and it's great! Very light and refreshing, although you cant use it for the eyes--it stings bad! Too bad since I mostly have eye makeup anyway, but it's great for everywhere else. The scent is tolerable. :)
